Samsung is gearing up to launch the Galaxy M56 5G in India on April 17. Positioned as the slimmest smartphone in its segment, the M56 is expected to bring several upgrades over the Galaxy M55, which launched earlier this year. Here’s a breakdown of the eight key changes the M56 may introduce compared to its predecessor:
1. Slimmer profile
The Galaxy M56 is set to be just 7.2mm thick, making it thinner than the Galaxy M55, which measures around 7.8mm. This could offer a more comfortable in-hand feel and sleek design appeal.

2. Gorilla Glass Victus protection
Unlike the M55’s plastic back, the M56 will feature Gorilla Glass Victus on both the front and back. This upgrade adds to durability while also enhancing the device’s premium look.
3. Glass and metal design
The M56 will sport a glass back with a metal camera deco, offering a noticeable design shift from the polycarbonate build of the M55.
4. Brightest sAMOLED+ display in the series
Samsung claims the M56 will feature the brightest Super AMOLED Plus display in the Galaxy M lineup. This could mean better outdoor visibility and improved HDR performance compared to the M55’s already capable AMOLED screen.

5. Enhanced Nightography camera features
The 50MP main sensor with OIS on the M56 will be supported by Samsung’s Nightography tech, possibly offering improved low-light shots over the M55’s standard night mode.
6. 12MP HDR selfie camera
An upgrade from the 50MP fixed-focus selfie camera on the M55, the M56 may switch to a 12MP sensor with HDR capabilities for better front-facing shots.
7. 4K video with 10-bit HDR
The M56 is expected to support 4K video recording at 30fps with 10-bit HDR—an upgrade from the M55’s standard 4K recording. This allows for more vivid and colour-accurate video capture.

8. AI-powered editing tools
Samsung will include AI-based editing tools on the M56 to enhance photos and videos without needing third-party apps—something not emphasised on the M55.
